Be Heard on the Proposed Budget Cuts!

The Ways and Means Co-Chairs released a budget framework that shows what cuts are planned as a result of the $1.8 Billion deficit. There are significant cuts to the Oregon Health Plan eliminating coverage for over 330,000 Oregonians (35,000 lives in Clackamas County) who are covered through  the Medicaid Expansion under the ACA.

  • K-12 Education:$7.8 billion,  3 % less than current service level
  • Oregon Health Authority, including Oregon Health Plan: $2.3 billion, o28 % less than current service level
  • Colleges and universities $2 billion, 1 % less than current service level
  • Department of Human Services $3 billion,  9 % less than current service level
  • Public Safety $2.5 billion,  3 % less than current service level

Housing, Foster care, Oregon Project Independence for seniors, services to people with disabilities, are on the chopping block. Measures that voters supported won’t be funded, like services to vets, outdoor school, and CTE education. You can read the budget framework by clicking HERE.

The legislators want to hear from you. I know this is difficult. I got the chance to meet and have a deep respect for Senator Elizabeth Steiner Hayward and Representative Alissa Keny-Guyer who will be there. I know they will listen.

Your chance to explain the consequences of these choices is now.
